    Windows Defender

    Windows Defender does not work. We get an error code 0x800106ba. How do I reload it and start over? Any help would be appreciated. I need a step by step help. Thank You CODY

    defender error code

    Hi JOE-----We hope this gets to you . This is my first time doing this. My operating system is vista. and service pack 2. We deleted Windows Defender in case it got corrupted. I need to reinstall it.What does error code mean?

    @Ted, it depends on the OS. It is an addon for XP and an OS feature for Vista & Win7.

    The CNet download specifies for XP/2003/Vista. Since the OP deleted WD on his Vista OS, this download may work to replace the deleted files.

    That would be an upgrade. It would be better to repair Vista before attempting to install the CNET update.
