I keep getting Found New Hardware on every system boot although I have not added any new hardware. This problem started four weeks ago. The found new hardware appears to be disk drive and readers--USB Reader, USB Mass Storage Device, Generic USB SD Card Reader, Generic USB SM Card Reader, SimpleTech Externan HD, Generic USB CF Reader and Generic USB MS Reader. After installing, I get the normal "Your new hardware is installed and ready to use". FNH repeats on subsequent boots. My printer and scanner are NOT affected by this Found New Hardware notice. I have run multiple spyware, malware and anti-virus programs to no avail. My windows is XP Pro SP3 and All programs are up-to-date. Search Microsoft and other on-line info, but they appear to only mention Printer issues with Found New Hardware. I also tried the SFC and CHKDSK programs. Any advice will be most appreciated.

2012-05-09 14:43I'd be looking at driver updates for the (Intel?) USB hubs in the machine. Perhaps you've either installed a bad new one, or you need to update to the latest driver.

2012-05-09 16:46Along with looking for an up to date chipset driver, you might also have a look in the device manager for yellow or red flags.
Type "devmgmt.msc" into the run box without the quotes.

2012-05-11 19:19Type "devmgmt.msc" into the run box without the quotes.
When the device manager comes up, select "show hidden devices" from the view menu.
Then post a "Print Key" snapshot like this one...
