    How do we create cross reference across two documents (Two Doc files)

    It depends on what, exactly, it is you are talking about when you say "cross reference." To see how broad a question that is, try Insert => Cross-reference... in Word to see the different kinds of cross-references Word thinks about. Across documents, there may be a different answer for each of these (and will be no answer for some). Generally cross references across documents are done either with RD fields or bookmarks.

    If you place a bookmark in document 1, you can refer someone to that location in a hyperlink or use an INCLUDETEXT field to copy the contents of the bookmark. RD fields are used for creating tables of contents that span documents.

    First, check Word's help for RD fields and bookmarks. I would recommend taking a look at the <A target="_blank" HREF=> MVP site</A> and searching for RD fields.
