Possible Win 8 upgrade for new Win 7 PC purchasers, $14.99 USD

PC World reports that word is that MS will offer a discounted price to new PC purchasers after June 2nd to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8 Pro when it is released in fall. There is no information on what the discounted price might be.

Opposite view from ZDNet. Take a look at both sides.

See post # 7 below for pricing

    Hi Ted,
Looks like when you bought a printer for buttons but charged an arm & a leg for ink.

I believe the viewpoint that if you are going to purchase a PC anyway then this is just an added bonus, but if you can hold off, then do so. There will be much more information as we get closer to the time of release of Win 8.

I've never been one, who changes too quickly. I prefer waiting till the 'kinks' have been ironed out.

This is typical of Microsoft. To keep from killing the PC business when a new release is fairly close Microsoft often has deals similar to this for both Windows & Office.

So true Joe. The same thing occurred just prior to Win 7 release when anyone buying PC's with Vista were given coupons for a Win 7 upgrade when it was released, but at that time it was free. The rumor is that Win 8 will be discounted, but not free. More details to follow.
