ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO

Could anybody help me to get rid of this design feature in XP. It will not allow me, with my current BIOS (version 8.0 Toshiba Portege) to modify the ACPI settings and modify the power settings. Is there a setting in the registry wich allows me to make XP a little permissive in this area?

    Thanks,

If the rest of your message when un-truncated read something like "attempting to write to an illegal port 0x70" (or suchlike), I had the same problem on a Dell Optiplex GX150, and fixed it with an updated flash BIOS.

Yes it was. I figured I had to wait for an update of the bios of this toshiba portege 7020. Hope it will come someday....
    Thanks
