    Windows Live Mesh/Windows 7 Starter?

I installed Windows Live Essentials on a netbook running Windows 7 Starter, and Windows Live Mesh did not show up in the Programs menu, even after a reboot, though other Windows Live apps did. Do I have to upgrade Windows 7 to use Windows Live Mesh?

Live Mesh doesn't seem to require an edition higher than Starter: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/LiveMesh/thread/6f6afa36-69ab-4993-bb16-d543e3bf8755

id you select Live Mesh as one of the apps to install, during the setup of Live Essentials?

    I selected to install everything.

You cited a post that is a couple of years old. I'm not so sure that Starter works with Mesh now. Check the list of features here:

Starter doesn't show the ability to connect to a computer remotely. I wonder???

In any case, Windows Mesh shows up on a laptop still running (fully updated) Vista, but not on the netbook running Windows Starter. I am hungry for the peer-to-peer file synchronization!

As far as I know, the features did not change on the different W7 versions. That said, I can't guarantee it will work, but the MVP that replied on that thread thought it would work.

    Aha --

Windows Live Mesh does not install automatically, or with a GUI menu item, but must be installed, believe it or not, using a command prompt. Instructions are several paragraphs down this page:

Does that mean you managed to install it? I can't see any instructions on that page.
