    XP reboot

Within the last couple months my friends computer started automatically rebooting itself 2,3,4,5,6,+ times a day loosing any and all that they are currently working on. Any suggestions as to why it would do this and how to stop it? System is XP home edition. I believe they are running a Pentium dual core w/2G ram.

Update and run your AV/AM application in full scanning mode, then download and...
Run an independant AV/AM tool than what is currently installed like MBAM, do it in safemode.

Random reboots are usually caused by:
    1. Overheating. Open up your PC case and clean all the accumulated dust bunnys especially from the CPU heatsink/fan assembly.
    2. Faulty memory. Run Windows Memory checker.
    3. Bad power supply.

To add to the list... A loose connection (Been there done that) "Tap" (gently) around the PC case you may find some sensitive place ...On my PC it was loose motherboard...
