Adobe Air not updating

I have Win 7 Ultimate, SP1. Secunia keeps nagging me to update Adobe Air 3.1.0. I have downloaded the file AirInstaller_3.2.0 (twice) from Adobe, but when I run it nothing happens. Next time I boot Secunia nags me again. What is this Air program anyway? Do I really need it? Seems to me that keeping up to date with Adobe is a full time job. Anyone have any suggestions?

Adobe Integrated Runtime is required to run certain programs (basically running web stuff like Flash on the desktop). One example is BBC iPlayer Desktop, but there are others.

If you don't use any such programs, then you don't need it.

Try uninstalling it first?

My Zinio Reader (My PC World digital subscription uses this reader) requires the Adobe Air. Mine updated successfully. If you uninstall it, if an app needs it, you will find out the next time you try to run the app. I would uninstall and hold off on a reinstall and see what happens. You can always reinstall later.

Thanks for the information. I do use BBC iPlayer so I imagine that program looked for Air. Will do as you suggest and uninstall, then wait for a prompt which I imagine will get the latest version. It seems strange that Adobe who produce such amazing programs as the vaious Creative Suites can't button up little itty-bitty ones like Flash and Air.
