Error message : There is no disc in the drive

Hi,

My PC is running very very slow, l have tried numerous spyware programs and virus checkers but they have not detected anything.

Attached is the error l am getting, which is:

"There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a disc into drive"

This occurs when the PC has finished booting up windows, and to keep clearing it and have to click on cancel all the time.

ANy help on this matter would be much much appreciated.

Hello... Could be a few problems ...Lets tackle the DVD\CD player

First thing is that these things CD\DVD's are always going bad , and sometimes doing strange things ... I have replaced both of mine .. Try to disconnect the DVD\CD RW by removing the cables (or cable) and re-booting ...This will eliminate other problems ... If the error message is gone ...plug it back and will go from there... Which version of Windows are you using?

Check your startup programs using MSConfig, WhatsinStartup, or Autoruns and disable all of them. If the error goes away, use a process of elimination to determine the startup program that is causing the problem.

Give us more info:

Make and model computer you have
It's approximate age
Type of install disk; Company OEM disk, OEM image disk, OEM partition, image partition, or genuine MS XP disk.

How is your computer slow:
Slow to start up
Slow to shut down
Slow to start common programs
Give us specifics/details

The Event Viewer may provide details into potential issues;
You can access the event viewer by typing "eventvwr.msc" into the run box, without the quotes.
Look in the general admin section as a first start for "catch all" errors & warnings.

Hi,

I have checked i startrup and could not find program causing problem.

I now appear to be geting atatched error in startup. When l check in shceduler there are no programs scheduled to be run?

I have tried unlocker program as l have noticed some corruopt files but still cannot delete them.

You haven't said if you have tried any of the above suggestions....Regards Fred

Download and run Autoruns to see the programs scheduled to be run. Open Services and see if the scheduler Service and the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service are running.
