This month, every Windows Secrets subscriber can download a one-chapter excerpt of Windows 7: The Missing Manual.Windows 7: The Missing Manual provides valuable information to help you overcome these difficulties in learning a new operating system. Subscribe today to download your free excerpt.
For IE9, download Tracking Protection lists at http://www.iegallery.com/en-US/trackingprotectionlists (or via Tools, Manage Add-ons, Tracking Protection).

By RTM & GA, IE10 will have "No Tracking" in it, by default. Advertisers won't like it but, End Users sure should.
Cheers,
Drew
Thank you very much Bruce and Drew for your replies. I read today that IE10 will have "No Tracking" by default. That's very good news. Until I upgrade to IE10, though, the links that Bruce gave will be a great help to me.
You all have a very good one.....

In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Privacy. Check the box in the "Tracking" section at the top of the window.

I just recently got a free program "Do not track" from "Abine.com".
It's worth looking into.
It shows a list of companies (web sites) that like to track you.
One that I noticed immediately was "Yahoo" and another was "Zedo", a well known Spyware site.
Good luck,

Yahoo and Zedo are trackers, nothing else, when Abine detects them. They are however undesirable and should be blocked.
Abine also maintains for all major browsers, plugins called DoNotTrackPlus. These plug-ins put the Abine suite's functions fully within the browser and allow easy access to turn on or off blocking of specific trackers or the whole list. I use DoNotTrackPlus in Firefox and Chrome on all of my Windows installations. I've never had a site refuse to function with all Trackers blocked.
Unlike the voluntary Industry compliance of the built-in DoNotTrack features, Abine can block anything it wants to block, without anybody's permissions, and with no exceptions whatsoever. I like that independence and reliability.
When combined with an automatic setting or plug-in to clear browsing data and Flash Cookies upon closing the browser, Abine's plug-ins offer very good protections against unwanted online tracking. CCleaner at the close of each Internet session completes my anti-tracking routine.
Download the latest plug-ins from the Abine download site (Abine.com), not through your browser's Extensions Gallery or equivalent.

Having stumbled across this post, I want to say that this is the most useful info I have received. The "DoNotTrackPlus" showed that Windows Secrets had four trackers going. WTF??
Thanks again!
Nothing against making a buck. We all have to do it. Just as long as it is not too intrusive and personal. I like making my own choices and do not wish to have my browsing "tailored for a more enriching internet experience".

+1 for "Do not track" from "Abine.com". Really nice, simple and effective.
