Thumbs up Interesting & VERY Cool

    Here's 2 interesting things:

MS will offer (this is prolly a US price) an 'upgrade' for Win7 machines bought around the release time of Win8, to Win8 Pro for $14.95, until Feb. 28, 2013.

By RTM & GA, IE10 will have "No Tracking" in it, by default. Advertisers won't like it but, End Users sure should.

    Cheers,
    Drew

Last time round the upgrade from Vista to 7 was free (shipping excepted) if one purchased a qualifying machine.

Do Not Track enabled by default will make it a lot easier for those of us bound by EU Directive 2009/136/EC to comply with legislation.

The $14.95 price is not real steep in this case so that should not be a deterrent. Extending the offer through Feb. 28th may be a very wise move on MS part. If I'm not mistaken, the offer in Win 7 shut down shortly after Win 7 was released.

The difference here is that before Win 8 is released you might see a lot of "Compatible With Win 8" systems, shortly before and definitely after you will start seeing more "Designed for Win 8" systems. There is a difference with these terms. I realize that most systems with the designed for Win 8 will arrive with Win 8 preinstalled, but you may see many arriving with Win 7 still on them as OEM manufacturers use the remaining Win 7 licenses.

This extra time after the release might be a determining factor on buying a new PC.
