    'Word' problem

    Hi all/

    for whatever reason when I click on any saved 'Word' document, a blank page opens and stays there for roughly 15 seconds when eventually a window opens informing me that the printer is not responding and do I want to wait etc yes or no. I click on 'no' and the document opens up as normal. I didn't intend to print the thing anyway.
    Any ideas folks?

    Tell,

    You might try clearing the printer spool.
    Open a Command Window as Administrator {Click the Orb, type CMD in the search box, Right-click cmd.exe at the top of the search list and select Run as Administrator}
    Type: Net Stop Spooler{enter}
    Type: Net Start Spooler {enter}
    Type: Exit {enter}
    Then try opening Word and see if the problem persists.

    Normally indicates a problem with the default printer, which can be worked around by selecting a different default printer (such as a document writer) :

    Word problem

    Hi all/

    As always, many thanks for your comments and suggestions but no luck there I'm afraid but ~
    I have however now found a way to overcome this.
    I have 2 printers, an Epson 810 and an Epson DX8400, the latter being my default printer.
    I have installed and frequently use a (brilliant) 'Screen capturing' programme called Snagit which also appears under 'Printers & Faxes' as a 'Snagit' printer.
    After going round in circles and getting nowhere, I tried clicking on this to make it my default printer and bingo ~ problem solved.
    How & why I haven't the faintest idea nor in fact how it ever came about because I haven't done anything different.
