    Personally, I'd go the route of:

    ' ** Begin **
    Dim strTemp as String
    strTemp = Trim(Me.cboDelAddrRef.Value)
    If Len(strTemp & "") > 0 Then
    'Do something
    Else
    'Don't
    End If
    ' ** End **

    But Mark is right, you can test combo boxes for a null value...

    Comboboxes are always null until you select a value from the user interface or set one in code. After that, they always have a value. Roger's code should work if you change the string assignment to this:

    temp = Nz(cboDelAddrRef,vbnullstring)
