Media Streaming

I have a desktop running Windows 7 (32 bit) and a laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) my anti vrus is AVG free on the desktop and Avast on the laptop; I use the built in Windows firewall on both. I have recently bought a Panasonic smart TV and want to stream photos and music to the TV. Both machines are on a wireless network and the TV is hard wired via ethernet cable to the Sky router.

When I select Media Centre on the TV the laptop shows up, no problem, but the desktop does not. Media streaming is turned through WMP on the laptop but despite attempting to turn it on on the desktop it will not "hold" the conection so although I can get the desktop media streaming window to recognise the TV (sometimes) it still will not stream to the TV.

Ideas welcome!
