Need Help Getting Scheduled Tasks to Run

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials as my AV program. It can be set to initiate a scan at a particular time of day, e.g. at night. However, my PC goes to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity and remains asleep until I move the mouse or hit a key. I thought MSE would be able to wake up my PC, run the scan, and then put it (or let it go) to sleep again. But that doesn't seem to work. I haven't tried scheduling a defrag for the middle of the night, but I suspect that won't work either. Am I missing a setting somewhere that will allow MSE and other tasks to wake up my PC?

Thanks for the quick reply. That's exactly the info I needed. Hopefully, MS will eliminate the need for intervening in a later release of MSE.
