Custom Label Definitions including Paper Size ((Word 2000 SP1a/SP2) )

I'm having difficulty adding a custom label definition. I'm able to do the label layout, but not able to get the custom paper size. I'm working with four-up labels on a 6"x12" sheet. I can not find where/how to add a paper size definition that will appear in the custom label dialog under page size. At the document level, I can see my custom page size listed (as defined at the printer level), but when I get into envelopes and labels, only specific label-related page sizes are listed, not the ones I've defined.

How/where do I create a custom page/paper definition that will be available when I go to create a custom label format? I'm trying to set up our Firm's standard shipping labels so they can be used with mail merge instead of a custom document template I've distributed as an interim step.

    Hi David:

Why don't you try this. Set up the main document of the mailmerge as a custom paper size using File/Page Setup... Put a 2 column, 1 row table in & make the cells the size you want. Use the mail merge wizard to select your data source & insert field codes in the main document. Make sure that you make the main document the active document & use catalog. When you merge to a new document, it will be the same size as your main document.

    Hope this helps.

I tried what you suggest and ran into one minor glitch. The wizard forces me to do the label setup, either selecting a predefined size or defining a new one, which leaves me right at where the original problem lies - I'm not able to define a new label format for these labels since none of the predefined paper sizes exceed 11" and my label sheets are 12". Unless I complete the label setup, the wizard will not allow me to complete the merge.

We've been using a table as you describe, where I can set the paper size appropriately, but I have not been able to get this to work with mail merge or the regular label functions.

I don't think I was clear enough (happens alot <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>). For the main document, don't use labels, use catalog. You just need to define your cell size properly. If you use the main document type as labels, you're right, you go thru the same dialog box.
