    Menu Form Sizing (A2K WXpHe)

I'm looking for guidance on how to set the size of a form I call up as a menu. In other words click a button and a small form pops up. The problem is that having added four buttons to this form, when I run it, only two buttons are visible and the other 2 are partially obscured until I manually re-size the form's border.

I know it must be simple, please assist.

Open the form in design view and manually resize it. Set the Auto Resize property to yes. Save it and then open it in form view and see if that fixes it. Sometimes you need to tweak the size until you have it just as you want it, but you must do it in design view.

I always set my borders of my form initially to 'sizable'. I then go into 'form' view of the form, re-size the form to the size that I want it, save it from 'form' view, go back into design view, change the border style to 'thin' or 'dialog' (or sometimes 'none'), then save it from design view.

Viola, this seems to work for me, sounds a bit pedantic, but hey....it saves stuffing around 'guessing' the size in design view and having to move back and forward between the two.

In Access 97, at least, the size settings didn't hold unless actually tweaked them in design view. Doing it the way you suggest only works in Access 2000 if you turn off Auto Resize, but that doesn't allow a form to expand automatically to allow for additional records, etc. And there are times when you don't want a sizeable border on a form.

Re: Menu Form Sizing (A2K WXpHe)

Sorry, I was a bit unclear. I never use a sizable border on a form. I only set it to that to 'resize' it in form view, and once I have the size, I go back to design view change it to something that isn't 'sizeable'.

It may be very well that saving it in 'form' view doesn't do anything, and that in fact it is when I return to design view and save it that it actually stores the size setting...but I have never bothered to go through it step by step and work it out (lazy I told you) - so I guess that step may be more 'superstition' than anything.

Oh well, maybe now I might actually find out if it does do anything or not?
