A friend of mine had an external hard drive he was using for backups, and it died. Found a good sale on an LG NAS unit. Trying to get it setup, instructions are pretty sketchy. It's plugged into his network via a switch, picks up an IP address properly. I'm having problems getting the Nero BackItUp software to install, so I decided to give Windows Backup and Restore a try. His main PC is running Win7 Professional, so I know it's supposed to be able to backup to a network device. If I use the Browse button with WinBackup, I don't see the NAS. If I call up a Full Network Map in the Network and Sharing Center, it's there. Any suggestions about what might be wrong?

2012-07-04 13:46Normally you would map a drive to the NAS and set the backup to use that drive.
Doing this really requires you use a fixed IP address for the NAS - you don't want to lose the drive because the router decided to change IPs.
