    Adobe Flash updater problem

On my XP machine I keep getting a message that Adobe Flash updater is unable to do whatever it is supposed to do. Sorry for the inconvenience -- or words to that effedt. -- I have manually updated Flash to the latest ... the updater message still pops up several times a day. Is there an easy solution to this?

For the newest version of Flash the Flash Updater is installed and runs as a service. If you do not want it to check for updates disable the service.

I don't mind it checking ... but for some reason from this machine it is unable to do the update. All it comes up with are error messages. The manual update worked with no problem. However the update checker (or whatever it is called) seems to have a communication problem between here and adobe.

Next time they pop up ... I'll copy them and post them.

In the meantime ... on a hunch, I have cleared the DNS cache to see if something funny there was/is interfering.

Well, clearing the DNS cache didn't appear to help. Message popped up again this morning.

Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

(then it says that if you were working on something it might be lost.) More info at click here:

    Which produces the following.

    Error signture:
    szAppName : FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe szAppVer : 11.3.300.262
    szModName : ntdll.dll szModVer : 5.1.2600.6055 offset : 000113c0

Another level down and the next window gives this:

The following files will be included in this error report"
    C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERec94.dir00\Flash PlayerUpdateService.exe.mdmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERec94.dir00\appco mpat.txt

Except those files don't appear to exist.

I would completely uninstall flash with Revo Uninstaller and then reinstall it.

Jerry ... I was hoping to avoid that ... but that may have to be my answer.

If you don't want to use Revo use the Adobe Flash Unisinstaller found at uninstall flash player.

Okay .. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player. (Used Revo). Now we'll see if everything runs as it should without annoying little error pop ups like before. Thanks for the help.
