Linksys Firmware Upgrade for Wi-Fi Routers Angers Some

Users posting on the Cisco Home Community forum and the U.K.-based site PC Gamer said they had turned on their Linksys EA3500 and EA4500 routers earlier this week and found they were running a new firmware version. I think they have every reason to be outraged. No updates should be installed without the explicit consent of the users. I hope they get what they deserve. I really do not understand how people who run these companies haven't yet understood this is a stupid thing to do and it will cost them, hopefully dearly.

I do not see this on my Linksys router (e4200). I believe the firmware version (1.0.03) is still what it was prior to this, and I do not see this change.
