How do I cut a clip out of a large video file?

I have a MP4 file that is over 300 MB, over an hour long. It was streaming video that I captured using a technique from a Woody Leonhard column:

It's an hour long news broadcast, but I'm interested only in the 30 seconds or so where my granddaughter appears.
How do I cut out just that clip and save it?

About an hour after I sent this post, I remembered that a few years ago I used to edit my video tapes (remember them?) and transfer them to DVD's on my XP with MS software called Moviemaker. So I downloaded Moviemaker from Windows Live Essentials for my Win 7 PC, and isolated my granddaughter's half minute of fame.

    Thanks anyway.

Use a video editor and/or converter. A good free one is by Freemark:

Zig (I now see you beat me to it while I was typing)
