Office 2010 Upgrade Installation Didn't Preserve My Customizations

I just installed Office 2010 Professional over Office 2007 on my laptop. I chose the "upgrade" option, assuming that would preserve my settings and customizations from 2007. It didn't. I tried copying the Office 2007 excel.qat file from my desktop to the laptop, but it didn't change the basic 2010 Quick Access Toolbar to my highly customized 2007 version. So I have two questions:

    1) When I install Office 2010 on my desktop, would using the "customize" installation option preserve my settings and customizations?

    2) How can I get bring my customized quick access bars into 2010 on my laptop, short of manually recreating them?

    Thank you,
    Terry

After some experimenting, I discovered that Office 2010 Quick Access Toolbar customizations are saved in *.officeUI files. On a hunch, I changed the extension of Excel.qat to .officeUI. When I opened Excel, my customizations were back. Problem solved.
