Word Starter 2010 and tracking changes

One of the advanced functions that is specifically listed as not being supported in Word Starter is the ability to track changes. However, I was sent a document in which someone else had tracked his changes, and when I started to edit it, my changes were also appearing. I was wondering if somehow that feature being "turned on" already enabled it to continue. It really seemed surprising, since I was sure that I couldn't do it.

You are correct that Track Changes will be active in the Starter Edition if turned on in a different version. However, as you noticed, in the Starter edition you have no control over it.
