    Do we need Flash?

Adobe has pushed out a few updates recently which have adversely affected the performance of my my PC.

Quite a few times recently I've had to fire up task manager to see what the heck is going on. It's always been adobe/flash-application helper chewing up my processor.

So today I decided to remove it and go back to a previous version which didn't give the performance hit. Well I removed it and restarted the PC (not required, but I always do with software) and found immediately that FF was running a lot faster without Flash. Possibly more important as well I was watching a video on Youtube which was pausing before but not afterwards as FF was now using HTML5 for the playback.

The new beta version of IE 10 includes Flash in the browser from MS. I would suspect it will when available for Win 7 as well. This browser seems as fast as FF or Chrome on Win 8 RP. It is not listed as an add-on anymore. Perhaps this integration works more smoothly than as an add-on.

    Just my luck!

I'm trying to kick out a resource hog and MS introduce it in their latest browser, then again I use FF.

It will be interesting to see how long I can last without Flash installed. So far it has been only adverts that require Flash.
