A quick way of naming a lot of cells?

I have hundreds of cells to name - is there a quick way to do this or do I have to type in each one?

    The reason?

I have a tab with figures in against certain apps and dates. On another tab, I have formula which refers to the figures. But, if the user sorts the apps into a different order (using filtering), the figures for that cell will change. So I can't do "=sheet1!"C1*xxxxx" - I need to name that cell's value so it stays constant - at least, I think I do. If anyone has any better ideas, I'd welcome them.

    thanks

    Alan

Naming each individual cell could work but is going to be a maintenance nightmare.

I would use the VLOOKUP function to find the data you are looking for according to the reference data (the apps and dates if I understand your description correctly). Then the correct data will always be found, wherever the rows are moved to.
