There was a whole load last week - notified to WS, presumably removed - not seen this week.

Many of our members do not see the spam as much simply because some Moderators and Admins are proactive in looking for and eliminating spammers before they have the chance to post their spam.

We also have more Moderators or Admins in multiple time zones to catch the spam reports quicker.

The spammers are still a major problem for us Moderators or Admins. It seems the spammers from Vietnam are the most invasive recently, but India seems to be a distant second.

I have not checked recently, but in the past when we get these rash of spammers from one location, there seems to be a common IP Address, or perhaps a few IP Addresses where most of the spammers are from. I suppose these could be spambots rather than single individuals or groups of individuals posting this garbage.

The other thing I'm seeing, especially in the mornings in EST zone, there might be 10 or more spammers (Who have been banned previously) signed onto the Lounge and 2 or 3 legitimate members signed on. Is there a method of preventing banned individuals from even signing on? I realize that many will not consider this a problem as they cannot post, but how does it look for new members when so many banned individuals are signed on at a given time?

Matt: The poll seemed to be pretty short lived. This is the first I saw this thread, and it's closed with only 8 votes.

Note the original date on post #1. That is probably why you have not seen it.

I have been a member of Windows Secrets for many years. I only recently registered to the forums area as I have noticed there are threads that are very useful as information to some of my questions or concerns. Please forgive me on this reply if my questions seems silly or ignorant. I now noticed that there seems to be trouble with spammers on the lounge while reading some of the posts.

What does the spam look like? How do I know it's spam? What do I do when I learn what to look for as far as reporting it? I find it reassuring and am happy that the lounge takes immediate action regarding the spammers. It seems you know what to look for and I am brand new to the forums and would like a heads up on what to avoid until I can recognize it on my own.

If you see them, believe me, you will know. Most will be written in vietnamese. Some, although written in english, will be obvious adverts to something, and in most cases the english will be bad.

You will, in many cases, see ads for various products, or ads for pornography, etc. As Rui states it will be very obvious. In this case use the Report icon in the lower left hand part of the suspected posts.
