Excel - how to automatically format number (##) to text (US$##.##)

I know how to make the cells "look" like they are like this:

"US$12.00", but the actual entry is "12". I have a secondary program that takes the excel entries and puts them in an email for sending billing receipts and I need the value in the cell to be US$##.##. Is there a way to convert the raw number to a formated text with "US$##.##", i.e. take 12 and make it actually US$12.00 as a text value in the cell?

    Pete,

You need to setup a custom format.

If you want the contents to match the format you will need code.
