I would say all do, otherwise they would be useless in an emergency.

Hello.. I have and use Macrium Reflect Pro and their Free version ( not as fast as Acronis ...but it works)...Both give to the option to "build" a "Waik Win PE " recovery disk... You will have to download a 1.7GB "WAIK File ( Windows Automated Installer Kit ) but you can delete it after the disk is built ... ( I keep mine for future builds) See this Macrium for details ..... I would think ALL imaging apps whether free or paid would have a Boot Disk option. When do we generally have to restore our HDs, when the OS fails to such a point that our PC will not boot. As Rui states the Image would be useless without such.

In point of fact, although Acronis (which I use) will create an Image from within Windows, I generally create my Images by booting to the boot disk and create the Image from outside Windows.

    Jag,

I've recently been experimenting with Macrium Relfect Free and am very pleased with it. Note: this is from a loooong time Acronis user! I've created a USB boot key with the Windows PE environent and MR. This works like a charm. The only problem I have encountered is that I need to wait until the USB key starts to boot before plugging in my WD My Passport drive or the system tries to boot from it and of course it isn't bootable!
