Question Why do my .doc and .pdf icons all of a sudden have images of the doc/pdf?

    Hi!

This morning I awoke to find that all the icons on my desktop that are for .pdfs now show images of the .pdf in the icon instead of the usual Foxit icon for .pdf. I have not updated Foxit Reader (it's version 5.1.4.0104) and I have Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (64-bit OS). I did do last months Windows updates yesterday, per Woody's "all clear".

Was there maybe something in the Windows Updates that changed the way Windows displays icons for .pdfs? Or is something nefarious going on?

Any help is appreciated -- thanks!

UPDATE: It's just .pdf's as far as I can tell -- and it's only on my desktop. The .pdf's in folders have the Foxit icon. And if I move a .pdf from a folder to the desktop, it still have the Foxit icon, so it's just the ones that were already on my desktop! Weird...?

I have no clue, but just letting you know that you are not alone. The Foxit Reader.pdf icons on my Win7 Pro 64bit system change to/from icons and thumbnails at random.
I never looked into the reason or cause.

    WW & Russ,

I'm using Nitro PDF Reader and I just opened explorer to a directory with PDFs in it and changed the display to tiles and presto chango I've got thumbnails also! It also does this with all the Icon settings as well.
