    Windows Media loses sound

Since upgrading to Photoshop Elements 10, any video segment (.MTS file) that I download from my camera replaces the sound track with a low noise rumbling track when played in Windows Media on my main (Windows 7) pc. After conversion to another format, the sound works fine. Also, moving the file to another of my Windows 7 pcs works, i.e., the file plays with proper audio.
Do I needed to reload Windows Media or a particular codec? If so, how? If not, what could I attempt that might fix the problem?

    Thanks.

This behavior started about 2 months ago. In the meantime I have installed all of the updates for Windows 7, Office 2010, Abode products, Jave.

I have not tried repairing or reinstalling Photoshop Elements.

I have not installed any special codecs.

Is there a way to do a repair install of Windows Media?
