What is the correct version of IE9?

I ask because Secunia PSI reports that IE 9 needs updating.
I am on version 9.0.8112.16421 and I think Secunia is making a mistake.

During the same scan Microsoft Windows 7 was also reported as needing updating. Are these updates needed? I need help finding my version of Windows 7. I know it's 64-bit with SP1 installed.

Most of the latest crop from WU were security updates I believe. These updates do not change the Win 7 version number. Do you get the paid version of the WS Newsletter or the free version? Susan Bradley has an article every edition about the patch Tuesday updates. Check the Lounge forum on Windows Secrets Newsletters.

I am not signed onto Win 7 right now so can not give you the latest version.

Edit: I do not believe security Updates for IE will not necessarily change the version number

This is what my system reports

Windows 7 HP x64 SP1 with no Windows updates pending.

    ETA

I've just ran the online version of Secunia and it had no complaints about IE.

jwitalka, please explain something for me. Two subjects are under discussion here, IE9 and Windows 7. Which program is version 9.09?

Thanks Browni, your version of IE is newer than mine. It looks like you obtained it from a Windows Update, so I'll run the updates and see if I get the newest version.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I don't understand, why does the IE9 version list on thing and the update version list another. My version information is the same as yours. Is our IE9 version 9.0.8112.16421 or 9.0.9? If it's the latter where do I get the latest version?

According to Microsoft, the "Update Versions line lists all installed updates or hotfixes to the current version of Internet Explorer."

So, your version number is 9.0.8112.16421 and you have update 9.0.9 applied, which seems to be the latest. That is my interpretation of the info, as explained by the linked MS support article.

Thank you Rurib for the link and your logical interpretation of it.

It didn't help much, I was as ignorant after I read it as I was before I read it. I still don't understand the two version numbers but I'm going to take your determination as gospel and when asked what version of IE9 I have, I know what to say and add that my version has an update to 9.0.9 installed.

The update version is so that you can be aware of the patches after a release. Microsoft may not be changing the release version 9.0.8112.16421 because some entities would see that as a new product and that would kick off a whole long, drawn out official Q/A cycle rather than just a patch which probably would entail much less testing.
