    Subject: Error Setting Up Win8 VM

    Subject: Error Setting Up Win8 VM
    Following your "step by step procedure for setting up Win8 in a VM", I get the following error;
    ' Your PC needs to restart.
    Please hold down the power button.
    Error Code: 0X0000005D"
    Parameters:
    0X03062A07
    0X756E6547
    0X49656E69
    0X6C65746E

    This error occurred when VM was started using the following ISO :
    Windows8-ReleasePreview-32Bit English Iso
    Need to know how to resolve this so that I can set up the the VM on my machine to "test drive" WIN8 on my system.

    This may be due to the host CPU features. See here

    The Release preview and beyond into the RTM code requires the CPU to have Physical Address Extension (PAE) and No Execute (NX) {labelled as XD in some CPU's}. This was not a requirement of the developer preview or the Consumer Preview and has caught out a few people who are running older CPU's.

    If your host CPU does have these features, check the configuration of the Virtual Machine to verify that PAE and NX are exposed in the VM.
    In God we trust; all others must bring data.

    I thought of that as well, but the symptoms are different from what we commonly see. I wonder if this could be something due to Virtualization not being enabled in the Bios. Just guessing here.
