Guess I won't be needing a spare Windows 7 license after all for my dual-boot. Hooray!

I just pre-ordered from Frys.com for $125.00+local sales tax. I can call them if they discount further. Windows 8 Pro OEM 64 bit Full Version. Delivery expected mid-November, 2012.

Now all I have to do is collect my Win 8 RP data and software titles and installers. Including the Super Antispyware pre-release, which actually works as a 64-bit security program in Windows 8 now. Drivers can be imported from DriverMax archives from Windows 7 on the same laptop. This will remain a dual-boot for the present. System Backups will remain with Macrium Reflect Free, so I'll also have to import the WAIK-3 ISO from my backup archives, to create the Macrium WinPE Rescue CD if I need to do this again.

And of course I'll be ordering Woody Leonhard's Windows 8 All In One For Dummies through the link at Askwoody.com. He gets a small payback if I go that route.

The real fun begins with customizing. That should occupy parts of my time for a long time to come.

Everyone -- Please post if you see better deals on any version of Windows 8. Especially the Full Retail versions for those who are not just upgrading. Folks will want to know about these deals.

You might have been able to find it available now at Walmart. I read where they are already selling Win 8 in Walmart stores, against MS wishes I might add.

That and almost all retail sales, is the upgrade. Even the Microsoft Store (retail) isn't offering Pro OEM. That's why I went online. No stores can offer advance releases -- just pre-orders (check whether they have price-drop or price-matching guarantees). There aren't many deals any better than $69.00 for the upgrade, or for the Standard OEM, $99.00. But I can still cancel my Fry's order until it ships, so I'd like to read about more deals.

So far, I'm pre-ordering the Full Version (OEM). And the order has gone to a Back Order at Frys.com, but they confirmed on the phone that the release and the pricing are going to be as billed.
