ZDNet has a review of the Win 8 Enterprise RTM here. Perhaps this will answer some of the questions.

I tried installing Windows 8 in several old computers including a Dell Optiplex GX260 SSF without a hitch, but when I tried to install it in an HP Compaq Evo convertable minitower, the installation failed.

I used the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool to copy the ISO to a flash drive, and plugged the flash drive into the HP computer. I disabled the other boot choices, and after displaying "Attempting to boot from a USB device" it displayed a Windows 8 Windo Logo. Then after taking much too long, it displayed several lines of messages, with the left part cut off.

    PC needs to restart.
se hold down the power button

I tried adjusting the position, but it would nor adjust far enough to get any more.

How old is this PC? It's very hard to say what might have happened. I have heard of Win 8 being installed on some pretty old PC's. Many had to have more Ram installed first. It is encouraging that it was installed successfully on other older machines.

    I enjoyed this comment:

"The whole screen is a search UI that you can navigate by typing."

You know, it's pretty damning praise to say the greatest feature in a Graphical User interface is the keyboard.
