    Nimda.E & Excel (97)

I recently had a couple of machines running Windows 98 get infected with the Nimda.E virus. After removing the virus and replacing system files by using 'sfc', I cannot save Excel files nor can I open existing excel files by way of File-Open or the Open button. I have also reinstalled Windows as well as Excel since, which did not help. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have good source of info on Nimda's effect on MS Office?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Eric

Sorry to beat on you like that, <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39> but now you know the value of having anti-virus software on your PCs and networks and to inform your users about these issues.

It depends on what anti-virus software you want to have or have on your PCs, but check here http:// http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ for info about the Nimda.E virus.

    Best of luck...

Thank you for your response. I know, all to well, the value of Antivirus Software. Unfortunately, not all users on our network do and are not very diligent in the protection of their systems. Neither does my employer know the benefit of a well designed network. One in which the infrastructure would be in place so that every user would not be as responsible for the security of the entire network.

Thanks again for the link. As well as the beating.

I suggest you print my message to you and show it to your employer. I guess when someone sees external sources talking about a topic, they react differently.

    Good luck.
