Why you give us a link to the site if it malware are you trying to infect others too.

My husband's laptop has just caught this trogan. It's Reveton I believe. I am currently running an MSE scan in safe mode but I have manual removal instructions from MS that I will try if this is unsuccessful. He doesn't have Malwarebytes installed. I recently read about Java being easy to exploit and that I should disable it. Could this be a way for this trojan to access your computer?

Please post the removal instructions from MS, or a link to them. Might be helpful if someone else get that nasty little bugger.... Thanks
    Thanks John

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/po...in32/Reveton.A

The recovery instructions are at the bottom of the article.

Addendum: MSE didn't find the virus and the above didn't work as CTRL+O doesn't open a command prompt in W7, though it would probably work on other Windows OS. I found the following http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/troj..._reveton.shtml which has worked and removed the trojan.

Another update: I downloaded and run Malwarebytes and it found, quarantined and deleted a trojan/ransom. All seems fine now.

Not sure why that MS article says use CTRL+O. CTRL + O simply opens an Explorer Window, which is unlikely to allow you to enter a run command.

If you press the Windows key and "R" (Win+R) it opens the Run dialog so you can enter cmd.exe and follow the rest of the instructions.
