Flash Player V 11.4.402.256 in IE Keeps Wanting to Update!

Hello, I have IE9 'update version' 9.0.9 running on Windows 7 Home Premium v6.1 (Build7601 SP1). I recently reset IE9 because of another problem. Since then, when I start IE9 or do a Refresh on the browser I get the Adobe Flash Player download screen. I installed the latest version of Player. I see it in IE's Manage Add-ons screen. It is Enabled. I have IE's Active-X filtering turned off. I uninstalled then reinstalled Player and got the bouncing cube when I started IE. Next time I started IE I got the Download Flash Player screen.

I continue to see the Flash Player download screen each time I start IE or do a refresh on it. I've read forum articles here and other places and have tried numerous fixes, but all failed. I need some guidance!

    Thanks - Dave

Try downloading the Flash uninstaller from Adobe - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/...r-windows.html. Download the Flash installer at http://majorgeeks.com/Adobe_Flash_Pl...rer_d5163.html. Close IE. Run the uninstaller. Run the installer. Open IE.

Thanks Joe! I appreciate the response- and the links. My problem was that somehow the URL for the Player download had been made the top home page in my IE. After I reset IE I set the only home page URL to my Web site. There was no URL to the Flash Player site. I'm clueless as to how it got there. It's not there now though, and the problem has gone away.

This has been such a good experience that I will post a new thread: Why Gmail will not load in my IE. It's the reason why I Reset my IE!

    Thanks again, - Dave

Glad you got the Flash problem resolved. From time to time, I've inadvertantly changed my home pae and wondered how I've managed to do it. I just change it back and go on. Thankfully I haven't done it for a while.

    Thanks for posting back.
