    Referencing an Autonumber (97/SR2)

There's probably an easy way to do this, I'm just missing it.
I have a contract that has several numbered paragraphs. I have a clause that refers to one of the paragraphs, (see Paragraph 1.D. for example). Unfortunately, if I add a paragraph before 1.D., then it becomes 1.E. and my reference is wrong. Is there a way to get Word to keep track of it and change my reference accordingly? Thanks for any help.

Yes, the easy way to do this is to "Insert" -- "Cross-Reference" and set the reference to pick up your "Paragraph Number". Please remember to have the fields update when you print under the options tab "Print" and check Update Fields -- this way you never have to worry about checking the references, especially if someone other than you gets into the document! <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>
