    Question IPv6 Router Settings?

Have a Netgear router (WNDR3700) that supports IPv6 but don't know what setting to use for Internet Connection. There are multiple choices and I can't find anything that says what they do.

    Does your ISP support IPv6?

Haven't checked with them yet, wanted to see what the router would do, but you have a good point.

Yes, if the ISP doesn't support it, there isn't much that you can test. It's even possible that you could assign IPv6 addresses internally, depending on the computers and the router, but I fail to see how that could be interesting.

My ISP is Charter and they have a website and test site for IPv6. According to them they do support it. All my hardware is also set AFAIK, so I just need to turn it on in the router I believe, if I knew which option to try.

So they will assign you an IPv6 address?

    Rui, see:

    For Charter's support of IPV6

pjkarl, IPv6 settings vary by router if they support it at all. Log into your router and poke around until you find it.

Look for a Firmware update for your router. The last firmware update to my Netware router added IPV6 support. It now has a separate page devoted to IPV6.

I was unclear. I have the firmware update that supports IPv6 for the router, and I have a dropdown list of several choices. I'm trying to find out what the different choices do, as there is no info in the firmware help section that describes them.

You get those settings from your ISP.
