Unable to access webpage: hidden setting?

I'm unable to access a particular webpage on my HP laptop running W7, and it's common to all three browsers (IE, FF, Chrome). It's the online catalog for a library. The library website is library.upsem.edu, and I have no trouble loading the homepage. However, when I click on the link to the catalog (for which the URL is morton.upsem.edu:8991), it won't load. I don't have this trouble when using my desktop, so my suspicion is that there's some under-the-hood internet setting on my laptop that's getting in the way, but I don't know what it would be. I can see that the URL in question is a little funky (using a colon after the domain), so I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks --

    Brint

    Try this address instead:
    http://morton.upsem.edu:8991/F

Sorry for the typo. I did try that address -- the one I typed above was from the Chrome message I got, "Can't connect." Don't know if that's a clue in itself, or not.

Normally I don't like to assume but I'd like to take a stab at this
Your computers are networked, the desktop computer is hardwired to you ISP modem/router and the laptop works wirelessly
--- Do you use the same internet security suite/program (Volume licensed) on both computers?
--- Or do you use seperate or different internet security program on each computer?
--- The reason I'm asking is that maybe the firewall on the laptop is blocking it
Try direct connecting the laptop to your ISP modem/router so it isn't working wirelessly
--- If you can connect this way, maybe it's a wireless security setting that needs to be checked
When I went to library.upsem.edu, this is what I got http://library.upsem.edu/Pages/ATLASforAlums.html
--- They have a contact link included, check it out. Maybe you are being blocked out from them and the problem isn't from your end

The link works for me. I would try temporally disabling any security software you are using including any firewall except the Windows firewall.
Are there different add ins loaded on the laptop vs the desktop? (Flash, Java, script blockers?)

Thanks for your help. I tried disabling Integard, and that seems to have done the trick. This is the second time I've added a website to Integard's whitelist, but still had the site blocked. I like to use it to control internet access by our kids, but it's beginning to appear to be more trouble than it's worth......

    Thanks for the suggestions --

Website filtering software is useful, but incidents like this one point out that such filters aren't perfect. Still, if Integard generally works for you, I can't recommending ditching it.

Integard finally responded to my query, and was very helpful. They explained that I not only needed to whitelist the URL, but also the port (8991). They also helped with another website I'd tried to whitelist for my son (monkeyquest.com) by doing research on their own and determining that I had to whitelist two additional ports for that website to work.

Good to know they helped. Keep us posted if answers come in from sources outside The Lounge, and maybe post a link to the support thread with Integard, if that seems possible and appropriate?

OK, nevermind. Glad you got help. And thanks for posting with your results. That's the important part -- post any results of help found outside The Lounge. Which you did.
