Need help removing About Blank from Win 7

I cannot find instructions for removing this hijacker from Win 7. All instructions seem to be 2006 or before.
I am using Google Chrome. Any help is appreciated!

This page (the top result when using Bing to search for About Blank) seems fairly recent: How To Remove About:Blank Home Page Hijackers

Bruce, The link you suggested above sent me to a site to download "Spyware Doctor", which I did. When installing Spyware Doctor I was
directed to uninstall my AVG which is the only antivirus program I have. I wasn't comfortable with doing that. Can you advise?
    Thanks!

Hi Faye, any luck with this yet? If not, you may want to try a couple of things.
    1. From Start Control Panel, you can run Windows Defender, a built in anti spyware, and see if that helps.
    2. Download Microsoft Security Essentials, a free MS AV program. Once installed you can remove AVG.
    3. Download and install CCleaner, a free program to easily clean up your computer. You can also use it to disable start up programs and other stuff. Use the default settings to start for a disk cleanup.
