Images on web page (Word 2K)

I can't seem to get my images to appear on my web page. I think I'm typing in the wrong URL or link in "hyperlink" on each image. Any ideas as to what the target directory should be?

Unfortunately, the page source is totally unreadable! Well, that's Word for ya.

First, you might try using this export filter to create HTML with less Word "stuff" in it: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/2000/htmlfilter.aspx>Use Office HTML Filter to Create Web Pages that Download Faster</A>

Second, where are the images on your PC? For simplicity, you might want to create an "images" folder and keep them all in there. Use Word's Insert Hyperlink... dialog to get the correct path into your document.

Third, how are you uploading your completed page and images? Does your FTP tool set up all the resources automatically or do you need to copy them into new folders? This could be the problem, but it's hard to tell. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> To pursue additional questions in this area, post over on <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/postlist.pl?Cat=&Board=htm>the HTML board</A>.

Re: Images on web page (Word 2K)

The only time I had a look at how Word converts to html, I noticed that it creates a new folder in which it puts the graphics, then links to that folder. If you're sending your page to a server, you need to send the new folder it created without telling you.

Re: Images on web page (Word 2K)

I went to the web page specified and look at the source.
If the page was generated using Word 2K, I think it was hand adjusted. What did you do with the .xml file?
The url for the opossum100t.gif file is missing the tilde (~):

    Above should have ~jgr1

Downloading the flag.gif and viewing with photoshop does not show a red, white & blue flag. It looks almost like a negative. Yet IE 5.5 views it fine. What was the source of the gif files in question?

Let me look at it offline. No gaurentees.
