    Nvidia WHQL drivers released

For anyone who has an Nvidia GeForce graphic card, Nvidia have released a WHQ non-beta driver. Go to Nvidia GeForce driver.

Thanks Joe. I would suspect that AMD and Intel will be releasing their drivers out of beta shortly as well for people needing those drivers. So far for me the default drivers work well on my ATI Radeon Mobile 4650 HD card.

These new (64-bit) drivers (306.23-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe) also support Windows 7 and Vista, as the filename indicates.

They still exhibit the infuriating habit of resizing all your previous windows smaller, until you resize them manually (well, they do on Windows 7, at least)...

AMD released Catalyst suite 12.8 on August 15, 2012. It is not a beta. I would expect an updated driver sometime between now & October 26th. AMD releases updates regularly.

I did see the catalyst suite previously. Since I do not have a need for most of the features, I have not installed anything but the default drivers that came with Win 8.

I guess it depends on the video card. I noticed a big difference once I installed the AMD drivers.

Beware that NVidia drivers don't work on laptop hybrid graphics.

Usually laptop drivers should only be updated by the laptop vendor. The video cards used in laptops are often special models only for that particular laptop.
