    screen brightness

The dim screen on an old Acer Aspire 5100 laptop is a real issue. I have looked for a way to brighten it and am unsucessful. Am I missing a driver for the video card or some setting in the display options? Any suggestions on ow it can be brightend? I have looked on the Acer site but found nothing reguarding the display.
    Thanks

    Hi Paul H

According to the user manual for your machine:

ou can use Fn key plus right arrow to increase the brightness, or left arrow to decrease it.
Also there is a Fn key combo to turn off the lcd backlighting entirely, but that should reset by hitting any other key.

Do those key combinations have any effect? If not it's possible the backlighting may have died.

    Jock,
Thanks, the Fn key method worked fine.
