Personally I would trust the WU before PSI, but that is my opinion.

Ted thanks for that reply I agree with you thats why I haven't acted on it I just have gotten tired of having PSI tell me that I am only 98% so I thought I would put it out there and see what I could find out I know one of you guys will know specifics on it I would bet you watch. Thanks appreciate your input.

You can tell PSI to ignore that update if you want to return to 100%.
Or you could click on the update link and see where it takes you.
You could also update PSI to version 3.0 which is better.

All typing errors are my own work and subject to patents pending. Except errors by the spell checker. And that has its own patients.

Clive thanks for that I would like to tell it to ignore it if I knew how when you click on the update in PSI in opens a Microsoft window that asks if you want to run or save the program also PSI says it is detected version 4.20.9876.0 that I neglected to include in my first post. Its amazing what you can find out in this forum. Thanks Clive.

That version number was SP2, but there's also an SP3. (I have both on Windows 7.)

Actually I have found Windows Update to be wrong on that. Take the PSI suggestion and update it, unless your version is already 4.3.2100.0.

PSI 3.0 won' t change this particular warning. Warnings are version independent. I am using PSI 3.0 and I got the warning as well and accepted the solution proposed by PSI.

My SP2 and SP3 comments were about MSXML 4.x.

If you really want to ignore a PSI recommended update, for PSI 2.0 it's on the left under Configuration. Settings, Ignore Rules (tab), Create Ignore Rule (Name/Path).

I prefer PSI 3.0 where this is easier; right-click, Ignore updates to this program.

I doubt whether Secunia have ever recommended an update that has caused any harm or that has been unnecessary for security purposes.

The update is a Microsoft one. Some Microsoft updates check to see if they are needed and do not install if they have been installed previously. Anyway, even if is already installed, an update such as this will simply replace some of your existing files. No harm will come from you running the update again.
