    Need help with rubyw.exe

hi guys, i'd like some help please with rubyw.exe. i've had a few problems with my pc lately slow, unresponsive that kind of thing and have come across rubyw.exe in the file c:\\user\mikeyb\\appdata\local\\temp\\ocr30fe.tmp\ \bin. i've read somewhere that ruby files (still not sure how it appeared on my machine or whether it is genuine) that it should only be in the system32 file. there are lots of not very helpful posts out there as to whether this is a problem (virus, malware etc) and needs to be removed. can someone help me decide what, if anything needs to be done about this file.

look forward to hearing from you.

Unless you program using Ruby or have an application which uses it I can't think of an obvious reason why you would have rubyw.exe on your machine. No doubt your AV package is up-to-date, and you've run appropriate scanners like Malwarebytes' AntiMalware, SuperAntiSpyware, and so on?

Hi BATcher, thanks for replying so quickly. I don't, as far as i am aware, use this program and can't think why it's on my system. I've used Malwarebytes but not SAS. i'll d/load that next and see what, if anything is lurking around. only then will i decide what to do. i'll do a system restore point first and if the worst comes to the worst i can always get it again if i find i need it.

    thanks again

Hi DocWatson, thanks for replying. That was just the page i, and everyone else when looking for help with this problem needed. Before i could return to this post i have had to reinstall my operating system thanks to an explorer. exe problem that made my pc useless. (i've posted the problem in the vista forum) i'm now wondering if the two things were somehow connected because one of the things it says is 'constant error message'. the people here are so knowledgeable, i'll definitely bookmark that link and wacth out for ruby.

    thanks a lot
