The update this refers to is a big one - roughly 170MB. See Windows 8 Client and Windows Server 2012 General Availability Cumulative Update for details.

I was not offered the Win 8 update referred to in post #3. The only Win 8 updates I have been offered recently were for Flash Player and Windows Defender definitions. Assuming the update applies to Win 8 RP I would appreciate it if someone would send me a link to download it so I can manually install it.

    Thanks and regards, Roy

Ted, thanks but that was the first thing I tried, and I was told there are no updates available. Any other ideas?

Are you using a RTM version? If not, it's likely you won't get updates.

P.S: Confirmed, this applies only to release versions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2756872#appliesto

"If you are an MSDN or enterprise customer, these updates will be available for your Windows 8 PCs via Windows Update as of today (October 9), following our standard cadence for Windows Updates on the second Tuesday of each month at about 10:00am.

Hello Rui. How are you ?
Can you say if this RTM now available will be the one to use and will be acceptable to the Updates site ? Will it be possible to run it "Validated" in the long run or will one have to D/L an .iso of the OS after the 26th Octobre ? I am still planning on waiting the 3 months further and get a Surf Ace adorned with the Pro version but in the mean time a curious mind would like to know. Be good ! JP.

The RTM will most likely require some updates to be added to be identical to Win 8 Pro when it is released. If you have a Win 8 Pro RTM from a paid MSDN or Technet subscription, you likely have the released code, with the exception of any updates since RTM was released. The RTM may also be missing the Media Center add-on.

    Hi Jean,

RTM will be what you will get if you buy a license in the near future. I am not sure what you mean by running it validated. I think to take advantage of the $40 upgrade offer, you will need to install it using an online installation process, so don't think you will get a DVD. It's all speculation, so far, anyway.
