Post Why does IE9 history show files open in MyPC?

    Hello.
Although I have been reading the newsletter for years - and found it very useful, this is my first post in the Lounge.

    My question is:
    - every time I open a file of type .mp4, .xls, .doc or .avi, it appears in the IE9 history as an Internet direct access, under the folder MyPC. Maybe it happens also with other file types. Is there a way to prevent this, and let IE9 history show only the REAL Internet accesses?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

If you open local files from the File menu of IE then they will be included in its history. If you don't like that for some reason, open them from Windows Explorer instead.

Thank you for the response, Bruce.
The point is that I am opening the files from Windows Explorer, NOT FROM Internet Explorer.
Also, I seem to remember that this kind of thing didn't happen before. Could it be some change I made in the config without realizing it?
