    Missing mystery

Windows seems to be of two minds as to whether a file exists or not. As shown in the attachment, a Windows search find two separate files, while the application that created them finds only one. The second one, when double clicked, begins to open the application but then fails, suggesting that it isn't there after all, or isn't able to open. The files are completely separately created projects.

I have the same problem with at least one other pair of files in the same application. The files are on an external hard drive that stays attached to the computer. I'm running W7, the hardware is all new this year.

    Any ideas what's going on?

Are you using libraries, are any of these files located in libraries folder/locations?
It's possible you could be hitting on a hard link.

No, libraries are not involved. The path is simply the Computer/External HD/Move Plus Projects/Annapolis Vacation. If I right click on the version 2 found in the explorer search adn select "Open file location", it get the same folder again, but the v2 disappears again.

What an application chooses to show is up to the application. What happens when you double click on a file that is associated with an application is also up to the application. I suspect the second file is a corrupted file that the app can't handle when it is double clicked. I have no idea why the file doesn't show up in the apps file browser.
