Win 7 os Issues - Is it a psu or corrupted disk

    Hello folks,
For the past couple of days, I've had some "craziness" going on with my Win7-64 installation.

Mouse freezes, screen frozen, HD stops maybe 10 seconds then restarts. Cannot save restore points. I tried booting to my cloned D:, but Win 7 doesn't even see the drive. I've defragged, ran deep clean with malware bytes and MS Security Essentials but only found 2 "low risk" threats.
I've tried backing up the drive to do attempt a repair install, but my backup stops after 9 minutes.

I've looked at the bios and my psu 12v rails are at 12.23v which is within spec. - The 5v rail is only showing 4.23v, which is not within specification -
SO, this makes me wonder if the problem is a bad PSU? - with the drive stopping and starting??

Your thoughts would be highly appreciated.

    Tom

I would be more inclined to believe a PS problem.

    Medico,
Me "thought" that with the stopping/starting of the HD - that in itself could cause disk corruption.

I'm going to order a new Coolmaster 1000W now.

Thanks for your confirmation - I highly appreciate it.

    Have a blessed one,

    Tom

Have a fine day yourself. We are buttoning up here for Sandy. I hope that monster of a PS works. Make sure you check the space requirements of the new PS and the available space in your PC.

I meant the physical space requirements. Quite often different manufacturer PS's are different sizes.

    Medico,
Yes, I knew physical requirements was what you were referring too. I checked and the CoolMaster will fit. Thanks so very though for reminding me.
    Have a blessed one.
